What is the difference between this and the non-sterile colored cap version?
These tubes are individually packaged sterile — each tube is pre-sterilized and sealed in its own sterile wrapper for point-of-use sterility in cell culture, microbiological, and other sterile-critical workflows. The non-sterile colored cap version is supplied in bulk bags for general laboratory use where sterility is not required. Both versions have the same O-ring seal, self-standing base, and conical interior.
Can I autoclave these tubes?
These tubes are supplied pre-sterilized — autoclaving before use is not necessary. If re-sterilization is required for a specific workflow, polypropylene is autoclavable at 121 degrees C, 15 PSI for 15 minutes when empty. However, since these are supplied individually sterile, autoclaving would compromise the packaging. Use the non-sterile version if you intend to autoclave before use.
